Twin Fields Estate Wedding in Pinehurst, NC | A Colorful Estate Wedding

There’s something about a wedding day at Twin Fields Estate in Pinehurst, North Carolina that feels like a weekend away — tucked into the pines, surrounded by gardens, with the kind of property that gives you a completely different backdrop every few steps.
For this wedding, that classic estate setting was paired with rich, colorful details, a warm fall-inspired palette, and a day that felt equal parts romantic and genuinely fun.
From florals floating in the pool to a garden ceremony and golden-hour portraits around the property, this one was GOOD.
A Colorful Wedding at Twin Fields Estate
One of my favorite things about this wedding was the color. Instead of keeping everything completely neutral, the day incorporated deep reds, pinks, greens, creams, and warmer autumn tones. The groom's rust-colored suit tied everything together, while the bride's off-the-shoulder gown kept the overall look timeless and romantic.
And then there were the florals. The bouquet had so much movement — trailing greenery, pops of burgundy and pink, and long ribbons that photographed beautifully anytime there was even the slightest bit of wind. Against the white exterior and brick details of Twin Fields Estate, everything POPPED.
Poolside Wedding Details
If your wedding venue has a pool, I am apparently going to find a way to use it.
Some of my favorite detail photographs from the day were actually created around the pool at Twin Fields. We photographed the bouquet, shoes, and stationery against that bright blue water, and even floated pieces of the invitation suite with fresh flowers.
It gave their details this playful, editorial feeling without losing the romantic atmosphere of the rest of the day.
And it's one of the reasons I love having time to photograph the environment of a wedding day, too. Your detail photos don't have to exist completely separately from your venue. Incorporating the spaces, textures, architecture, and little quirks of the property makes them feel so much more connected to the story.
An Outdoor Ceremony in Pinehurst
The couple held their ceremony outside in the gardens, surrounded by their favorite people. The garden ceremony space at Twin Fields already has so much natural beauty that it doesn't need to be completely transformed. Greenery framed the ceremony while the estate sat just beyond it, giving everything that intimate garden-party feeling.
I photographed parts of the ceremony from inside the estate as well, looking through the windows toward everyone gathered outside. Those slightly removed perspectives are some of my favorites to look for on a wedding day. Alongside the photographs of the vows, reactions, and first kiss, they help show what the day actually felt like to be inside of rather than only documenting what happened.
Documentary Wedding Photos + Portraits Around the Estate
After the ceremony, we moved around the property for portraits — but I wanted them to still feel like them.
There was plenty of movement, walking, laughing, and letting the two of them interact rather than stopping the entire day for an endless list of perfectly posed photographs.
The brick terraces, gardens, open lawn, and white estate gave us so many options without ever needing to leave the property.
And as the sun started dropping? That's when it was so stunning.
We caught that warm evening light across the lawn, giving their portraits a completely different feeling from the earlier parts of the day. Some images were colorful and full of movement; others were stripped back into black and white, focusing completely on their expressions and the little moments happening between them.
That's always the balance I'm looking for — photographs that are beautiful enough to live on your walls, but real enough to bring you right back to the day.
Getting Married at Twin Fields Estate in Pinehurst, NC?
Twin Fields Estate is such a good option for couples wanting an elevated North Carolina wedding venue without their day feeling overly formal.
Between the estate itself, the pool, brick terraces, gardens, open lawn, and outdoor ceremony spaces, there are so many different environments to photograph without needing to build extra travel time into your wedding timeline.
More importantly, it gives you room to actually experience your wedding. Because years from now, I don't just want you to remember what your flowers looked like or where everyone stood during your ceremony.
I want you to remember the way you looked at each other right afterward. Running across the lawn as the sun disappeared. Your people surrounding you outside the estate. Your veil catching the breeze. The flowers you spent months choosing. The tiny pieces of the day you didn't even realize I was photographing. The pretty stuff matters. But the way it all felt matters more.
